I was born in 1962 and grew up in an Armed Forces family, where resilience, curiosity, and a sense of duty were part of everyday life. In 1979, I followed that path and joined the Royal Navy. After three years in the Surface Fleet, I transferred to submarines, a decision that shaped the next 24 years of my life. Life beneath the waves was demanding, but it taught me discipline, teamwork, and the value of quiet determination.
When I retired from the Navy, I wasn’t ready to step away from the world of submarines entirely. I joined an engineering company that specialised in submarine training and simulation, running the Scottish division for 15 years. Later, I returned to England, where I tried my hand at agricultural engineering before finally settling in Shropshire.
These days, my life has taken a creative turn. I spend much of my time writing, from inspiring novels to playful children’s books, drawing on the experiences, imagination, and lessons I’ve gathered along the way. Writing allows me to explore history, adventure, and storytelling with fresh eyes, while also creating joyful, imaginative worlds for younger readers.
Away from the page, I’m happiest spending time with my family, sharing stories, laughter, and the simple pleasures of everyday life. My journey has been varied, from the depths of the ocean to the quiet of the countryside, and now I’m excited to bring those experiences into the stories I share with readers.
